Electricity…and You
Published by darrell November 16th, 2005 in Personal
I’ve spent roughly the last week studying electricity, and I’m finding it to be a quite intriguing. If you’re curious as to why I would subject myself to the study of electricity, it’s because it’s part of the requirement for my FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification. If you’re now wondering why on earth I’d be working on my A&P certification, you’ll have wait for another post on that subject in the (hopefully near) future.
Where was I? Oh yes, I was talking about electricity. Several people I know have formal training in this field, and the inner working of circuits comes almost naturally to them. It’s not so simple for me. I’m learning it, albeit slowly. I wouldn’t say that it’s hard, just involved. Add to that the fact that I’m studying it on my own, without any kind of instructor, and maybe it’s a little easier to see why it’s taking me so long to figure out the value of each of three identical resistors in a parallel circuit with a 48-volt source that supplies 192 watts of power.
(By the way, it’s 4 ohms.)
