Rumors of my departure…
Published by darrell November 21st, 2005 in Work…have been greatly exaggerated.
MYTH: I have accepted a new job and I’ve already submitted my two-week notice.
TRUTH: I have received a conditional offer of employment from a company in Florida. The condition that I must meet requires a lot of time and paperwork. This company in Florida cannot officially offer me a job until I meet the condition. I expect that this could take several months. While any date I give out would be a wild-ass guess, my current assumption is that I won’t meet the condition necessary for an offer until sometime in March, 2006. Based on this assumption, the earliest that I may be leaving Rackspace would be the end of April, 2006. For those interested, the job has nothing to do with computers. In fact, it’s a job fixing helicopters. Those that know me understand that this is sort of a dream job for me. Ironically, I was not even seeking the job, instead it came looking for me. I have nothing but love for Rackspace, and I would never leave, except to go work on helicopters.
Conveniently, I’ve previously informed my boss of my status and plans, and I am making sure that he has the most complete and up-to-date information possible regarding my possible departure from Rackspace, so this rumor isn’t something that’s going to get me into any trouble, as far as I know. Well, the fact that I’m taking Heather with me is probably going to cause a few furrowed brows, but I’m sure that someone can take over her brownie-making duties.
I heard you were already gone?!?
wait! I am going too?!
