Episode 2 - Analytical
Official Description: - “People strong in the Analytical theme search for reasons and causes. They have the ability to think about all the factors that might affect a situation.”
Coming in at number 4 on my list of strengths is Analytical. Of all of my strengths, this is probably the one that I would have most readily identified on my own, since the basic premise of this strength has been apparent to me since childhood. This strength is all about “Why?”. I ask that question a lot, I always have. I have a deep desire to know why things work the way they work (or don’t work) and why people do the things they do (or don’t do). I also like to think of myself as an objective observer, and this strength is probably the reason for that. I fancy myself a logical person, too. I usually (key word, usually) don’t go off half-cocked, as I want to gain a full understanding of what it is I’m doing before doing it. (There have been notable exceptions to this, but I like to think of them that way, as exceptions.) Sometimes this means I’m slower to make a decision than some people would like, and that’s unfortunate. It also means that sometimes I try to gather more information than is really necessary for the decision at hand. I think this strength is what makes me feel grounded. My wife would probably say that it’s why I lack spontaneity. We’re probably both right.
Tune in next time when we talk about strength #3, Harmony!
In our Strengths class we called the Analytical people Anal!
I on the other hand, am completely half-cocked all the time.
