Movie Review - Hoodwinked

I don’t normally go to the movie theater, but a friend of mine wanted me to see this, and it looked rather interesting. At its core, Hoodwinked is the story of Little Red Riding Hood. But all is not as it seems, as the forest police show up and begin a full-blown investigation into what’s really going on. What follows is the whole story as told by each of the four main characters involved: “Red”, Granny, the Wolf, and the bumbling Woodsman. During the “interviews” it becomes apparent that a nefarious scheme to steal goodie recipes from all of the local snack vendors is underway, and the story turns to catching the thief behind it all.
While this movie is not as good as Shrek, it has some of the same endearing qualities, primarily that it is great for kids and also includes enough obscure adult humor so that parents won’t feel too left out. Also, the unique “Law and Order” approach to the story made for very compelling* cinema.
*For those of you who have been around me at work recently, I apologize for my continued overuse of the word “compelling”, but I was compelled to use it here.
