Sheesh, I haven’t posted to a while. Of course, this is there isn’t much going on that’s very interesting. So even though this may be boring, it’s an update…which is better that no update at all, right?
Okay, I recently got my 60,000 mile service done on my car at the dealer. For some reason, I am really determined to have all of my car’s services done at the dealership. First of all, if I ever sell the car, it will be nice to provide paperwork on every single service thatt he car has ever had. Hopefully it will help the resale value. Also, the car is under warranty, and the last thing I want to deal with is to have something break that is under warranty but then have the dealer say that I violated something by not having the dealer perform my services. I had a lot of trouble with a previous car where the transmission went out and even though it was under warranty, I had to do a lot of work to convince them that the transmission had not been serviced by someone other than the dealer. Bleh. So the services at the dealer cost a lot of money. They are every 7,500 miles, but they cost at least $150. The 60,000 mile service set me back over $700, but I’ve seen the list of work they do, and it’s a lot of stuff.
During th service, I was told that I needed new tires. Now, I knew I needed new tires, but I was holding off until May or something. As it turns out, the tires were worn a lot worse than I thought, and they wanted me to pay another $850 for a new set of tires. Screw that. I got the same tires they suggested from tire shop in town for only $650, and that includes the policy to replace any tire if it goes flat and is unrepairable. This is my third set of tires, and I’m switching from my beloved Yokohama ES100 tires back to the standard Pirelli P6 tires. The Pirelli’s should last almost twice as long, and are noticeably quieter and more comfortable, althought they lack the outright performance of the Yokohama’s. Oh well, no autocross for me, I guess.
In closing, I would like to show you my new tires! Well, one of them, anyway.

After reading this, I would say that a boring update is not necessarily better then no update at all.
